Program Regulations:  §645.31 What selection criteria does the Secretary use? 


What Topics are Covered in this Webinar?


1.) Determination of Eligibility & Target Area Needs Assessment - Review of Participant eligibility requirements (Sec. 645.3), UB definitions (Sec. 645.6), and Target Area Needs Assessment.


2.) Quantitative & Qualitative Data Collection - Explore the documentation of academic performance gaps and non-cognitive challenges as integral components of a Needs Assessment of your target schools.


3.) Assessment of Ambitious & Attainable Objectives - Compare objective percentages to baseline data to determine ambitious yet attainable levels that include a review of UB Program required and permissible services (Sec. 645.11)


4.) Project Design & Delivery of Services - Improve the quality and impact of your UB/UBMS Project by discussing programming design; staff structure; methods to identify, recruit, and select Participants; and service delivery plans (Sec. 645.12, 645.13, and 645.14)

Elizabeth "Lisa" Retamozo

Lisa has over 30 years of experience implementing, managing, supervising, and evaluating federal (TRIO) and state-funded educational and career opportunity programs serving low-income and potential first-generation college students.


In 2003, Lisa started her own consulting company, NOSOTROS Education Center. Since then, Lisa and the NEC team have provided TRIO Projects nationwide with short/long-term technical assistance, new project implementation, project evaluation; assistance with annual performance reporting, database customization/training; compliance assessments, in-service training, and professional development seminars; development of policies and procedures manuals, proposal writing, and technical review services.


Lisa received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her Masters in Business Administration from Texas Woman’s University.
