Attention all New UB, UBMS, VUB, & EOC Project Directors:
New Project Directors' Webinar Hosted by the Department of Education on Wednesday, Feb 1, 2023, from 1 pm - 3 pm (EST).
Purpose: To provide technical assistance to New Project Directors (those directors in the role for 2 years or less) in the administration of UB, UBMS, VUB, and EOC projects.

Expanded Eligibility for TRIO Program Services in California Now in Effect
Performance Partnership Pilot for Disconnected Youth (P3) is now signed and fully executed with the California Higher Education Collaborative (CHEC).
The performance agreement is now in effect, which means the citizenship eligibility requirements (34 CFR 643.3(a)(1), 34 CFR 645.3(a), 34 CFR 646.3(a)) have been waived through September 2026 for the following federally funded TRIO programs: Student Support Services (SSS), Upward Bound (UB), and Talent Search (TS).
Also waived is the collection of information about whether an applicant or participant in these programs is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. Each TRIO Project in the agreement may opt to serve individuals who are not citizens or permanent residents to the extent permitted by the waivers, but they are not required to do so.
All California community colleges with classic SSS, UB, and TS TRIO Projects have been automatically included in the pilot. No additional action is required unless for programs that wish to opt-out.

Please note that the reporting requirements and parameters are still being developed, and updates will be provided when they are ready to be shared.
